My curiosity about the world outside India, and exploring parts of the world have fed into each other. The more I see, the more I get inquisitive. And the more I learn about the world, the more I want to see! Ever since I set foot on a foreign land in 2014, I have always wanted to take that flight abroad every year. It has not been possible though. However, we are planning to explore the world a lot more in near future. As we go along, all our travel stories will feature in this page.
Constraints we face as middle-class Indian travellers
It’s never easy to travel the world with “rupee” as your currency, and with an Indian passport. The rupee’s low conversion rate is a big disadvantage. From your hotel room to the food, everything seems so expensive! And Indian passport doesn’t give you easy visas. Difficult and lengthy visa processes are a big turn off. However, we have to live with it, and keep travelling.
World: the journey so far
We have seen a bit of Europe and Asia so far. Of what I have seen till now, Italy remains my favorite. Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice, Milan, every place I have been is etched permanently in my memory. Florence is an all time favorite. London, Paris, Amsterdam and Zurich are some of the great cities of the world we have been able to see. I can not forget the day witnessing Stonehenge and Bath in England. Some of the places in Asia, especially Thailand, like Chiang Mai and Koh Phi Phi islands are also absolute favorites.
The Bucket List
The list is very long! Really very long. We want to see the whole world, at least set foot on all the continents, and at least 100 countries. We would love to witness the remains of all the ancient sites, all the wonders of the world, and all the major cities for sure. Some of the natural wonders of the world like the Great Barrier Reef, the northern lights, the Banff National Park, and the Grand Canyon are absolute top of the list. We keep are fingers crossed, and hope for the best.
