We had a wonderful time in Italy in 2018. We visited Rome, Pisa, Florence, Siena, Venice and Milan. Each of these places is unique, and I don’t like to compare places. However, if there is one place that I would definitely go back, it is Florence.
England often doesn’t augur that ‘ancient cultural’ vibe as its other western neighbors like Italy and Greece do. But England, (and the United Kingdom) is home to some of the most amazing symbols of ancient civilizations. The Avebury ring, Skara brae, Hadrian’s wall, Edinburg castle and Corfe castle are just a few to name. I had the opportunity of visiting two such ancient wonders- Stonehenge and Bath, in a day, in 2015.
Udaipur is so many things to so many people. For some, it’s the magnificent palaces, or the opulent hotels, and for many others, it’s the lakes. However, for me it is the subtle ambiance that Udaipur is. It’s like a beautiful poem, a feeling, an old-world charm that fills my heart with joy, things that one doesn’t generally associate with cities. There are so many memorable experiences from Udaipur, that it’s difficult to pick a few. But let me share the ones very close to my heart.
The history of stepwells in India goes back 3500 years, all the way to the Indus valley civilization. These are unique architectural features of medieval India; you will hardly see them elsewhere in the world. If Baths were a Greek invention, Stepwells were India’s contribution to the world architecture.
Mussoorie has everything that one looks for in a hill station- amazing views, entertainment options and great food. Hill stations have a special charm in the rainy season. The clouds, rain soaked pine trees all around, an all-the-more green look of the hills…it was so charming! Mussoorie will always have a special place in my heart.

If there is one archaeological complex that took my heart away it was Hampi. An extraordinary empire of medieval India that rose again like a phoenix, time and again! Situated in the south Indian state of Karnataka, Hampi is quite a marvel. History, heritage, architecture, nature, culture- all packed into a bundle of extravagance. It’s indeed a true world heritage.
“God’s own country” is not a mere slogan, rather it’s a feeling. The tranquil backwaters lined with coconut trees is a sight to behold.
