Famous for its awe inspiring landscapes, Spiti Valley is as good in winter as in summer. Its snow clad mountains, snowy rivers and snow-sprinkled villages appeal to the heart. In winter, Spiti Valley becomes a frozen paradise for adventure seekers. The entire landscape becomes white like heaps of fresh cotton flowers as far as the eyes can see!
Vibrant towns surrounded by lush green forests with spectacular mountain views are where people in India rush to when it becomes too hot in the plains. From the mighty Himalayas to the lush Western Ghats to the rolling hills of north-east India, these hill stations are beyond recreation now. Here’s a list of the best ones.
As the name suggests, Spiti Valley is the valley created by the flow of Spiti river. Spreading over 7,828 sq. km. area, it spans the administrative districts of (largely) Lahaul- Spiti and Kinnaur. No doubt, Spiti Valley is know for its spectacular landscapes, but the tour was also a spiritual journey for me. To know more, do read.
Tucked in a corner of Mussoorie, Landour is a serene place frozen in time. A little hamlet with old houses from India’s colonial era, surrounded by lush greenery, it exudes a calmness that is soothing to the soul. Away from the cacophony of main town of Mussoorie, Landour is a paradise for discerning travellers.
